Back-to-back blog postings aren’t you lucky…
Since this is my blog and I am assuming you are going to read to the end, you are forced to listen to my rants… :)
I voted today. This after I had a great debate in my mind whether I should actually go and vote. I have to admit, it was a brilliant debate. Especially me…errr…Both of me s…errrr… or both of I s, or what ever…
My major concern was that all of the candidates are completely worthless and probably don’t deserve to be running for this high of office let alone actually winning it. I truly am terrified by the prospect of any one of them. Barrack and John, one is part of the problem and the other doesn’t have the experience to run a convenience store. Joe and Sarah, one is REALLY part of the problem and the other doesn’t have the experience to run a convenience store. Don’t even get me started on the nut running for the Libertarian Party. At least Sarah has one thing going for her…she is smoking hot. I briefly thought I might as well vote based on who I thought looked better since this is nearly as good as voting for merit. But I talked myself out of that. So I did what I have done in most elections I have voted in. I choose the candidate that I thought would screw things up the least. Yes, I voted for the lesser of the two evils. Now, I am not going to tell you who I voted for, because, quite frankly, that is personal and should stay that way.
Instead, I am going to rant on what is broke. I see all this media attention on how we need a better President and the country needs to change. The ironic part is that the Presidency isn’t what is broken, nor does the country need to change. The government needs to change and, actually, of the three branches, the Presidency probably functions the best. You could argue that the Judiciary isn’t functioning well either. I don’t care what party you lean, no judge should re-write a law to serve any agenda (this includes conservative judges as well). All judges should be strict constructionists and use extreme caution when rendering interpretations of existing laws. Even as progressive as Thomas Jefferson was, our judicial system is NOT what he envisioned. However, clearly the problem lies with the House and (particularly) the Senate. It was after decades of corruption that finally caused the implosion of the Roman Empire and it is likely due to their elected officials. History has a tendency to repeat itself when we are unable to correct our mistakes…
So…
I have a dream…(no a different dream). I dream of an America where my children (yeah, like that is going to happen) will vote in an election where there is a real (and by real I mean not crazy like Perot or just plan weird like the Green Party candidate a few elections ago), viable and strong third party candidate (call it the Centrist Party) that represents the true majority. Let the right wing and the left wing people have their parties where the Democrats can continue their goal of a socialist state and the Republicans can continue to mix way too much religion into politics and drunken spending. But please have a party that knows when to have social programs and when to remove them when they do not achieve their results. Where they will focus on fiscal responsibility and finally get this spending machine that is our national budget under control. And know that the power really does lie with the people when they really put their creative minds and spirits into the process.
Stop laughing at me…I told you it was a dream.
Just me...
Being creative...
